My father says that my ways of cooking are unconventional. My reply to him is ‘As long as I am getting results, what’s the big deal’. This is one of my funniest experiences…
As you see, I cook by my own rules. I am not the kind of plerson who assembles all the ingredients before starting. I follow up the recipe and always end up making a big mess. And it wasn’t different on that Sunday when I suddenly decided to make some fried doughnuts.
As I mentioned before I don’t assemble the ingredients before starting, so when I was supposed to mix milk with active dry yeast, I had to use water instead because my Aunt used the milk to make caramel custard. But it didn’t stop me from mking a dessert, I wanted to make since the time I started baking. Then after 10 min, I poured out the bloomed yeast into a container along with vanilla essence and butter and started whisking. Then I checked the recipe to see that I also had to whisk 2 eggs also and I didn’t have any at home(because my Aunt used them). What a DISASTER😡!! I was so furious beacause everything was falling apart. So I ran downstairs to get some milk and eggs. I was really worried because I didn’t want the yeast to die before I even added the flour. I came back as quickly as possible. I whisked in the eggs and added a little milk(just as a creamy element). Then I added the flour and powdered sugar in the most messy way, there was flour on the table and on my clothes. Then I mixed them and added a pinch of salt. And I let the dough rest for 1 hour. In the meantime, I prepared royal icing to glaze my doughnuts. After that I cut the dough by a cookie cutter and deep fried them. I let them cool and then glazed them and garnished with walnuts.
I know they looked messy but anyway I was really happy to have finally made the dessert I wanted to make since the day I started baking. This blog is dedicated to all the bakers out there who are proud of their creations without bothering what others would think. Just keep baking and enjoy because you have a great gift!
